Dear world, I’m officially a New Yorker now! I even have the temporary license to prove it!
If you’ve been paying attention to my Facebook or Instagram, then you know by now that over a month ago I accepted a position with the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. With this position being located in NYC, of course I had to pack up my things and move. I must say though, this move was less stressful than I thought. Yes, it cost a lot but so far I feel really accomplished.
Anyways, on the bright and sunny day of today, I decided to run some errands and practice my route to work.
Here are some things that made me smile and that I thought are worth sharing:
- I didn’t get lost taking the subway, even when I mistakenly got on an express train! I feel as though that’s a win in itself. Lol
- Once I got to my job and as soon as my boss saw me, she gave me a really big hug. I wasn’t expecting it but it felt nice to be welcomed with such open arms. I also asked my boss what the dress code was and she replied, “there is no dress code.” #winning
- Even though it took like two hours, I was able to get to the DMV to exchange my MD license for a NY one. I figured, what better time to take a new license picture than now when I’m a fresh-faced newbie.
- As I was walking down the street on my way back home, one of my neighbors said “welcome to the neighborhood.” I don’t know if he has said that to all of the tenants in the building but it definitely made me feel special.
- Somewhere in between time, I managed to find Marshall’s, TJ Maxx and Bed, Bath & Beyond. I picked up a few household items for the apartment and planned out (in my head) what I want my room to look like.
