What meant to be a short outing with my girl Kim visiting Georgetown’s new Massachusetts Ave school building, turned into an all day exploration of some of DC’s hottest spots. I mean we didn’t get into the house until after 1AM!
12PM: I picked up Kim and we headed down to 650 Massachusetts Ave to see just where this new Georgetown building was. Our graduate school will no longer be housed in Clarendon but at this new location. Of course we had to scout the place out to check for parking and to see how far it would be coming from our jobs.
Despite spending a large amount of our time just simply trying to find the place, we finally decided to park the car and get out and walk. Much to our surprise, the new building is actually in a prime location. It’s right in between 295/395 and Chinatown/Gallery Place.
2PM: We found our new school, yay! Now at this point, we didn’t want our day to end. It’s been a while since I hung out with Kim and randomly we decided to go to Georgetown for a little shopping.
It was so easy to find parking in the residential area. (I actually got a $30 ticket for parking longer than the 2 hour limit!)
We went to Aldo, Zara, H&M, Urban Outfitters and more I can’t think of before settling down with Johnny Rockets for lunch.
5PM: Not that we expected to roam M St for that long, but the city life was calling us. Although we enjoyed our meals at Johnny Rockets, what we really wanted was a nice drink!
Thus, we drove on down to U Street and stumbled upon a nice happy hour spot, Alero. It’s a Mexican restaurant, yet there were a lot of young black men and women there. Apparently, we didn’t get the memo that it was the place to be.
After a few drinks and lots of laughs, we were for a lack of a better term “too turnt up!”
8PM: Okay here’s where things really started getting random. We decided to end our night at Adams Morgan.
First, we went to another restaurant to kill time. It’s actually a really nice place. If only I could remember their name, but their beef skewers were amazing!
Then we literally walked up and down the street like five times before 10PM hit. That’s when the bars officially opened.
We partied like rock stars all night long at Grand Central. Lol
1AM: Fully satisfied with the day’s events, we decided to leave and part ways.
It was definitely one of the best days I’ve had all summer. There’s nothing like spontaneity with one of your best girl friends 🙂
