My last concert of the summer was the Legends of the Summer Tour with Jay Z and Justin Timberlake. It was at the M&T Bank Stadium (Yes, the Superbowl Champs Ravens Stadium!) Since I’m never satisfied, I must get out everything that was wrong with last night before I get to the good parts.
First things first, the Light Rail was terrible as usual. Why was the wait to get inside AND outside of the City 30 minutes long? I just don’t understand how the City can continuously encourage people to take public transportation and still have lousy service.
Then, once I got to the stadium. The staff said we couldn’t bring in umbrellas. Of course, people decided to throw them in the grass instead of throwing them away. I had brought an umbrella so I did the same. After the concert, as I’m leaving looking for my umbrella, I notice they’re all gone. Searching for answers, I asked a staff member where the umbrellas were. She replied, “The clean up crew threw them away.” Sigh….
There were hundreds of umbrellas outside and the staff just threw them away! They didn’t say they were going to do this ahead of time either! I just don’t understand WHY they threw them away. Would it have been such an issue to leave the umbrellas there and have us pick them up after the show? Would it have been such an issue to gather the umbrellas and put them in a different location to be picked up later?
Why would you throw away hundreds of dollars of other peoples merchandise without even telling them. I understand that it’s “just” an umbrella. However, that was my thirteen dollars! I loved my umbrella lol
Now that I got that out of my system, let’s get to the good part of the show.
I had bought one ticket because I planned on going by myself. (I hate waiting for people to get their money together when it comes to going to concerts.) Even though I had planned on enjoying the concert alone, my friend, Tieast, rode the Light Rail with me. She also had bought two floor seat tickets. One for herself and the other for a friend. Apparently Tieast and her friend weren’t on speaking terms and she wasn’t sure if her friend was coming or not.
Needless to say, Tieast showed proof of purchase of her two floor seat tickets from the Live Nation app and got me to sit next to her. I was SO happy because where I was sitting originally, the people next to me were smoking and sloppy drunk.
We were super close to the stage!
I enjoyed every minute of the show. Justin was flawless and Jay Z went through all of his old hits.
I was a little upset that Justin performed way more songs than Jay Z did. I expected Jay to perform more than just two songs from his latest album. I also expected Beyonce to come out and surprise the crowd but that’s neither here nor there. Lol
I couldn’t believe they actually sold out the stadium. I mean every row was filled with drunk, happy people.
Check out some of the videos I recorded from the show below:
P.S. Am I the only one who is a little perturbed about rappers like Jay Z performing songs with excessive use of the n-word for predominantly white audiences? The crowd last night was filled with white people and when Jay Z performed “F*ckwithmeyouknowigotit” (every sentence of that song ends with the n-word) I was just amazed with the people singing along.
And yet black people get mad when other races use the word…
