Today I could complain and go on and on about things that I hate or dislike because it was just one of those days. However to counteract those negative thoughts with positive ones, it’s only right I go on and on about things that I’m grateful for. This stems from a series of events that happened this week that allowed me to take a look not only into other peoples lives but also my own. So here we go…
- Family – Although I rarely talk about my family or show them the much needed affection they deserve, I truly do appreciate everything they have done for me. I have the luxury to be able to bounce from one family members house to another without feeling unwelcome. I also have the luxury of financial support when ends don’t meet and food in my stomach when I’m starving!
- Friends – I have some really great supportive people in my corner that have been with me since the beginning. I have realized that I am not the most pleasant person yet my friends still adore me for who I am.
- Georgetown – It was only recently I finally accepted the fact that I have done some pretty remarkable things in my life. The modest person in me rarely talks about my achievements but I am so grateful to be able to study at one of the most prestigious colleges in this country. My professors are amazing, knowledgeable experts in their field and I couldn’t be more happier to learn from them.
- A job – Now my job isn’t any regular job and I am extremely thankful for that. Working with Public Allies is going to be a challenging ten months, but thinking about the rewards, benefits and people I have and will meet along the way makes me eager to wake up in the morning. It gives me purpose.
Sometimes, when things get hard it’s so easy to complain and blame your problems on others. However, life is too beautiful to spend it being miserable.
