I know I haven’t been blogging as much as usual but this post will surely make up for it.

This past weekend, my life was paraded with exciting and scary events. Not only was I literally followed and approached in a mall parking lot but I was able to end my weekend with a nice barbecue outside in Annapolis.

Here’s what happened…

Friday: I just got home from work and began packing my things to go over my mother’s house like I do every weekend. But my friend calls and invites me out to the movies with her. Of course I was like “okay, cool” because I’ve been wanting to see the movie ‘42’ for the longest.

We meet up at the mall, buy our tickets, and shop around a bit because the movie wasn’t going to start until an hour and a half later. We’re in the movie theater now, I’m eating my cinnabon and strawberry kiwi smoothie I snuck inside, by placing it in my H&M bag.

Side note: I had to ask the sales associate from H&M for another bag because the one she gave me didn’t have Beyonce on it… What? It’s a collectors item 🙂

Okay, the movie started and in front of my friend and I is a whole row of middle school aged boys. Through out the movie, they just kept talking and talking. And they weren’t whispering either. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt as they were young and probably just wanted to have a good time together.

However, this is the movie ’42.’ It’s not a comedy and it wasn’t the kind of movie where you could miss a scene and still be able to understand what’s going on. The movie wasn’t even boring either. It was really good actually. But these kids just kept testing my nerves until I exploded and said “I’ma need ya’ll to be quiet, like right now!”

They looked back at me, turned around to face the movie and didn’t say not one word afterwards. I heard people behind me go “Hmph” and “Oop.”

It’s actually really funny now that I think about it. I just hate when people talk throughout a movie.

Once the movie is over, my friend and I head to the parking lot to go home. Right in front of where my car is parked are two Crown Vic’s blocking me. I pressed the panic button so my car alarm would go off and they would know I’m about to leave out.

I get to my car and the two guys driving the Crown Vic’s approach my friend and I. One guy comes to the driver’s side and the other goes to the passenger side, where my friend is.

I quickly put my shopping bags in the car, get in the driver’s seat and close the door. The guy on my side is at my door telling me to roll down my window. Through hand motions, I told him I couldn’t roll down my window because my car wasn’t on. He nods his head okay.

Meanwhile on the passenger side of my car. My friend is basically being verbally harassed by the other guy. He asks her if she has a boyfriend. She replies yes and he ends up saying something along the lines of that he doesn’t care, he doesn’t want to be friends with her anyway. He basically implied that he just wanted to have sex with her. SMH

I finally put my keys in the ignition and the guy on my side is like okay roll down the windows now. In my mind I’m like “Oh hell no” and I don’t roll the windows down which only makes him upset and he says “Okay, little girl.” They both walk away.

Him calling me a little girl didn’t hurt my feelings but the fact that they were acting like complete fools in front of a little boy, whom I assume is one of their kids, is what infuriated me.

What right do men have to approach a woman in a mall parking lot and basically verbally abuse them anyway? And what kind of example are you showing for your own child!?

Anyways, needless to say both my friend and I made it home safely.

Saturday: It felt so good to spend my Saturday doing NOTHING! I literally stayed in bed all day and watched Scandal on my iPad. Then I went to a club in DC called Cafe Asia with a few friends. It was a great day and night.

Sunday: Today was the last day of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program at the U.S. Naval Academy. We ended up having a small barbecue for the Bigs and Littles and we also went on a quick nature walk.

It was so much fun and the burgers were SO good! The kids really enjoyed themselves and I know they’re going to miss the program and their Bigs.

Following the burgers and chips, we also had popsicles. The weather was perfect too! Hearing all of the kids goodbyes and receiving a few hugs made all my screaming and yelling at them worthwhile 🙂

P.S. My first year at Georgetown is officially over. I turn in my last project on Tuesday and then I’m free… until August.
