Thanks to Rob, I decided to go to the official graduate school new student welcome. The good thing is that I already knew people from the orientation on Monday. That meant less small talk and more enjoying the free hors d’oeuvres and endless sparkling water.

Instead of arriving 30 minutes prior to the event, I arrived 5 hours earlier. At one o’clock, I parked my car in a residential area, got out, and walked to the Georgetown main campus entryway. It took me a while to find it. I mean at one point I called my sister and told her I was lost. Lol Once I did reach the holy gates, I still had no idea where I was at. So me not being afraid to ask questions went to the security desk and he gave me a map. It was useless, big and made me stand out like a sore thumb. I ended up just taking my chances, asking two more people for directions until I got to my destination to pick up my ID card. I was getting use to the campus and I walked around more until I reached the bookstore, two levels of pure goodness that is Georgetown paraphernalia.

The new student welcome was short, sweet and to the point. Georgetown is becoming just my kind of school. I added two new friends to my new friends list: Suja and Sueann. Suja is a character. It’s pretty obvious that she comes from money because as she was telling a group of us about her apartment, she made sure to mention how expensive it was and that she doesn’t know why she’s even staying there. *Side eye* Anyways, Sueann was more down to earth. She’s from Barbados, knows Rihanna and received her undergraduate degree from Howard. Although she spent four years in DC, she wasn’t too familiar with the metro system. After plenty of conversation, it turns out she lived 15 minutes away from me. There’s no way I could’ve let her take the metro home then so I ended up driving her.
