For this post, I decided to compile some recent photos in a little something I call My Mini Moments.
*SEAL Team Six is a new book I am reading. The SEAL Team Six are a group of the Navy’s most elite. They are the ones responsible for Osama Bin Laden’s death, however that specific operation is not detailed in this book. So far it is pretty interesting. You have a guy who comes from an extremely strict background and decides to push himself physically and mentally past his breaking point to become an elite Navy Seal Sniper.
I am reading this book because of the recent hype around the upcoming movie, Zero Dark Thirty, which does recount the Osama Bin Laden operation.
*Here I am at the Baltimore Ravens Stadium for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Annual Holiday Party. It was a huge success! I got to hang out on the field and wonder around inside by the locker rooms. There was food, music, games, a photo booth & of course the smiling faces of our Bigs and Littles!
*My first semester at Georgetown is finally over! I can’t believe it. The two classes I had were very informative and fun, surprisingly. I am taking Public Relations Writing and Elements of Communication Planning next semester. I hope I am awarded with many more life changing opportunities like this semester has given me.
*MY BIRTHDAY IS TOMORROW! And I finally got something I’ve always wanted, an IPad. Thanks to my sister 🙂 I can not stop playing with it. I have been listening to podcasts, downloading lectures from iTunes U and especially discovering new and useful apps.
*It always seems like my problems in life stem from riding the Light Rail. This time, there was an accident by one of the stops which prevented the trains from traveling towards that specific direction. The geniuses at MTA decided it was a great idea to put everyone off the train at Camden Yards and shuttle them to the Patapsco station. It seems like a decent plan but unfortunately it was carried out horribly. The train operator had no idea as to when the shuttle buses would arrive or where they were going.
I waited for approximately 30 minutes along with almost 200 other people. Of course the crowd got rowdy and irritated for the lack of direction and communication. There was no police to control the crowd and once a bus did come (yes, one) the driver wouldn’t open the door because he was afraid someone might get hurt from storming in. Another 15 minutes later, four more buses arrived and now the consensus was that they would drop us off at the Patapsco station and we could catch the southbound train from there home.
This whole ordeal was terrible and I can not understand why the MTA wouldn’t have a plan in place to handle situations like these. As a follow up, I looked online for information about an accident in that area and could not find one article. The MTA also did not post any information on it’s website regarding the situation either. SMH
*This was probably the highlight of my week, as I was able to visit the offices of top PR firm, Edelman. My Communications Research professor works there and decided we would have class in the conference room. It was great! She brought us brownies, cookies and gave us a tour of the offices. I got off at Farragut West and walked up less than a block to the building. Riding the DC Metro to class just further spurred my hatred for Baltimore’s public transportation. There’s a huge difference!
Everything was bright, colorful and comfortable. I loved it!
They even have their own ice cream bar!
